What do those customers who already bought JBL Flip 5 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker have to say about this?

This speaker will sound heavenly. The mids pack the punchiest bass, most perceptible at 50% volume. Highs are distortion free for most of the time. High quality audio formats will also be well executed. The vocals get sharper at highs, pure bliss I must say. Type C was a much wanted addition. I got it for 7199 during sale and at that price, it's an absolute no brainier. It's worth the price of 8499 too I would say. Go for it. ((If you do have flip 4, don't bother to buy flip 5 - not because it's not better (flip 5 is better in sound quality, mids, highs as well as bass than flip 5), but because you might not appreciate the upgrades. For e g, it has mono speakers, although better than flip 4, but in any way a show off for your hypocrisy. Then there is the bad move by the company for introducing the new party boost, without upgrading from bluethroat 4.2 to 5.0 or higher.

On aspiciatious day, Dassera JBL is reached in home. I feel it has good sound quality and well in built. As compare with price i personally feel it has little bit over priced. But the product is absolutely good. No doubt. I think it should be at 5K. Its good for Small Parties. Kids Birthday or small function. Where 30-40 people around. One more think i suggest that a proper good quality box should provide so can it will kept safely. Over all again great experience with Amazon. Again they proved they sale only genuine best quality product. And service, wow its extremely best and quicker.

Great portable speaker in every aspect, great sound , portable, great design, waterproof, jbl connect feature, usb type C port ,etc. This are the some positive things about this device....!!! Mono speaker is used instead of stereo speakes by jbl...this is major con of this device and another con is difficult to find carrying case of it in perfect size and in good quality material ( JBL Must have to include carrying case within the box ) That's it from my side, otherwise it is best portable speaker you can buy in this range ( I bought this in less than 8,000 Rs ) on Amazon sale.

JBL is one sounding company which is only and only concentrating on sound quality according to present technology I had never heard such a loud sound other than this portable speaker. I would highly recommend if u searching for portable Bluetooth speaker than go for JBL (specially) JBL FLIP5. Product price: price is little high but its worth full once you will listen to the sound. Durability: Easily to clean, easy to handle, spill resistant, dust repellent and even water resistant. I am always washing my JBL FLIP5 until now i never suffered any problem. Battery backup: lets talk about the battery backup i am listen it on 50% to 60% i swear i am using it 8 to 10 days, daily 3 to 4 hour now calculate yourself. Overall i am in love with this JBL flip5.

Bluetooth keeps disconnecting frequently with Mac Catalina 10.15 and since it doesn't have 3.5 port so it's useless for me at the moment. Don't buy if you have Mac 10.15 Sound quality is really good and very loud as well(20watt). But the lack of a microphone is a bummer as it cannot be used for phone calls. Also there's no 3.5mm jack. Only pros is usb-c

the bass is way too high... absurdly high making the sound so disturbing it seems like jbl overdid with the bass for this flip... i have heard flip 3. there the balance between bass and treble is decent.....i think if jlb had added only a little..yes only a very little bass to flip 3 to make a flip 5 that would have been wonderful... the party boost is of no use...its adding to the bass which is already too high... i think with the price tag jbl could have done better with this flip 5. paying so much money and then you dont get the appropriate outcome hurts .. i think flip 3 is better than flip 5. others might think otherwise...but this is my opinion.... now i can understand...its so difficult to get perfect balance between bass, mid and treble..a little bit of here and there and the whole thing is just marred... one star or may be a zero star for this jbl this time... Although i am a big big fan of JBL...and probably thats why the expectation... the protection box that is provided with this flip 5 is absolutely bogus...very very very cheap...did not expect this from jbl

A Complete Review by Carlos B.

Carlos B.
3/5

Pros

• Battery lasts up to 5 hours at 100%
• Clear, clean sound
• Partyboost mode
• IPX7 and floats
• Polyexpan housing
• Full charge in 2.5 hours

Cons

• Mono sound (has 1 driver instead of 2)
• No minijack
• Bluetooth 4.2 (expected 5.0)
• No has hands-free microphone
• Not compatible with the previous model Flip 4
• USB-C exposed, this is problematic for dust

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I bought this bluetooth speaker because I already used the JBL Flip 4 and liked its sound, although after several years it ended up breaking the battery. I really wanted to find a portable wireless speaker that would work as well as the Flip 4.

Before starting to analyze the JBL Flip 5 I must say that I was disappointed, I thought they would really improve the model by renewing it, but it wasn’t. I used it for a week and a half but I returned it for several reasons. First of all it has no hands-free microphone, this is something VERY important for me because I use the speaker in the shower and if someone calls me before with the Flip 4 I could take the calls. I also don’t like that it’s not compatible with other older models, I guess they’ll fix it with a firmware update, but it gives me the feeling of being an unfinished product.

Oh! Oh! The sound is mono instead of stereo as it was before on Flip 4. This has also happened with the JBL Charge 4 and I personally do not dislike it because the sound acquires more detail in treble, whereas previously details were lost at high frequencies.

Below I show my opinion on each of the points in more detail.

FINAL/DESIGN

Externally, if we compare it with the previous model, the JBL Flip 5 stands out for having a larger size and presents some aesthetic improvement that gives it a more modern look, although the cylindrical shape is almost identical.

Measures 18.1cm in length and 6.9cm in diameter. Weighs 540 grams so it is still easy to carry as it has a system to hang a rope.

On the front are the controls for the main functions of playback, volume up/down, pass song, play/pause… and also a button to activate the Partyboost mode. At the top there is the power button and the Bluetooth button, accompanied by the USB-C charging port that is not covered by any rubber, as if it happened on Flip 4.

An LED light informs us of the status of the battery, which gradually loses its intensity if used.

Externally it is very simple and what perhaps catches more attention apart from the charging port exposed to water or dust is IPX7 certified that even allows the bluetooth speaker to float in the water.

It is available in 6 different colors, I bought the dark blue because it is not as dirty as black and is still elegant. SOUND

QUALITY The first

thing you need to know is that this new model has a driver so the sound is mono, and not stereo as was the case in Flip 4.

The driver it carries measures 4×4 x 8 cm, is larger and the construction has improved and draws a power of 20W RMS. Frequency response is 65 Hz to 20 kHz. It has two passive radiators at each end of the speaker. This improves bass response and allows it to be configured via the JBL Connect APP.

Once we know this the sound it offers is clear and clear, with some bass that do not obscure the rest of the frequencies. This is especially noticeable in the treble, which have more detail. On the other hand, the feeling of stereo sound offered by the previous model is strange.

Partyboost mode allows us to pair Flip 5 with other identical speakers, it’s a pity that this mode is not compatible with previous JBL models. Come on, we have to go through the box yes or yes.

CONNECTIVITY AND FUNCTIONALITY

Okay, this is where JBL has gone crazy and this JBL Flip 5 has no 3.5mm minijack input or hands-free microphone to take calls from the speaker itself, or be able to contact the voice assistant. Very important things if the previous model has.

In addition, this Flip 5 is not compatible with older models of the brand. This means that it can only be paired to other Flip 5 speakers.

The evolution is observed in charging times and battery life. Charging has improved with the USB-C port (which is exposed without any cover) and charging in just 2.5 hours, half the time of the previous model.

The autonomy reaches up to 10 hours at maximum volume, and 12 hours with a volume of 70 -80%.The battery is 4800 mAh. This speaker has Bluetooth 4.2 version with a coverage range of 30 meters. I expected an upgrade to version 5.0, which saves battery use and improves the bluetooth signal.

CONCLUSION

Sincerely not worth it for what it offers. They have cut in functionality, even though they have improved battery and sound (a bit). I prefer other speakers like the Sony SRS XB21 or even the UE Boom 3. I do not recommend this speaker, sorry but I can not.
